The Original Madras Trading Company was founded in the early 1970s by bringing trunks of Madras checks to New York.
Today, we still operate out of the same office, supplying many of America's best-known brands.
We supply fabrics and products woven in South India through our New York office.
The definition of Madras check is that it is 100% cotton, thread dyed, plain woven, with an uneven pattern in at least two colors, and most importantly, it is Indian cotton woven in Madras.
Originally, and still today, the best Madras fabrics are hand-woven.
